Passivhaus Talks,
The Marlborough Pub & Theatre
4 Prince’s Street Brighton BN2 1RD
Passivhaus is the leading low energy and comfort standard for designing buildings in Europe, where thousands of houses achieve this standard. The approach is centred on high levels of insulation, air tight construction to eliminate draughts, and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery to supply fresh air when windows are closed. This session offers two short talks from two presenters at 1pm and repeated again at 3pm.
Mischa Hewitt introduces the Passivhaus standard and a new build project to build two Passivhaus in Oxford.
In ‘How far should I go with retrofit? - The story of the Totnes Passivhaus’, Adam Dadeby discusses his award winning Devon house, one of the UK’s first Passivhaus certified retrofits. This is a family home and bed and breakfast where visitors can directly experience a Passivhaus (www.phbb.co.uk).
